About Us
Flora Peculia grew from a love of rare and unusual plants — we are growers, collectors and sellers of cool and interesting plants! At the heart of our collection is miniatures, unusual species, Orcids, weird leaf-shaped plants and curious varieties.
Each plant is unique. Some are rare enough to rival the cost of a car or a house, but many are simply admired for their elegant growth and year-round beauty.
Flora-peculia isn’t just about flowers — it’s about any rare and interesting plant.
Meet Our Team
What started as a personal fascination became a deep, ongoing commitment. Our founder Taras has spent years learning directly from Japanese experts — including the grower who repots Neofinetia for the Imperial Household. Every plant we offer is carefully selected, traditionally styled, and grown with the same reverence.
You’ll also meet Pei, who helps with everything from plant care to customer support — and who may or may not be overseen by our resident feline supervisor, Rito the cat.
We don’t think of Flora Peculia as just a store. It’s a resource and gathering space for orchid lovers, curious beginners, and fellow collectors. Whether you're looking for your first Fuukiran or chasing down an elusive variety, we're here to help.
Have a rare plant to share? A story to tell? A photo to show off? We’d genuinely love to hear from you.
Customer Care
When you adopt a plant from us, the relationship doesn’t end at checkout. We offer ongoing support for your growing journey — questions, troubleshooting, repotting tips, you name it.
We're committed to helping these plants thrive in your care. They're more than inventory to us — they're pieces of culture, history, and joy.
We’re honored to share these plants and their stories with you. Thank you for being part of the Flora Peculia community — we can’t wait to see what you grow.
Warmly,
Taras, Pei, and Rito the Cat

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Rare orchids are typically species that are hard to find in cultivation due to their limited native range, unique growing conditions, or low commercial availability. Some are also prized for unusual colors, shapes, or historic value in orchid collecting.
-
Not always! Some rare orchids are surprisingly easy to grow if their basic needs—light, humidity, and airflow—are met. We help you choose the right plants for your experience level, and provide care notes with each one.
-
It depends on the species and maturity. Some orchids bloom right away, while others may take a season or two. We indicate blooming size (BS), near-blooming size (NBS), or seedling stages when available. For example, if the orchid is labeled “blooming size (BS)”, it could flower within 3 to 12 months under the right conditions. Some may bloom sooner, especially hybrids. Seedlings may take 2 to 3 years or longer to reach blooming age.
-
“MTD” means the orchid is mounted, and “BS” means it is blooming size. We use these terms to help you understand what to expect when buying.
